Cartagena
Cartagena was a beautiful discovery and definitely one of my favourite cities in Colombia. This port city on Colombia’s Carribbean coast boasts colourful buildings, impressive street art, vibrant nightlife with many good bars and restaurants options, live music nearly every night, a rich history and plenty of things to see.
One neighbourhood I loved the most regarding the splendid street art and graffiti scenery was Getsemani, The focal point of the area is the Trinidad Square, where locals and tourists alike gather each night to eat, drink and dance. Cartagena is a truly artistic and creative city.
Other than that, we spent a lot of time in the old town of Cartagena walking through the walled city, admiring its beautiful and colourful architecture. Some famous places are Santo Domingo Square with one of Fernando Botero’s sculptures, Café Del Mar to enjoy the Caribbean sunsets, Saint Pedro Claver Church where you can see the iconic palenqueras – Afro-Colombian women in bright-coloured dresses selling fruits, and many others.
