The remote eastern province of Mondulkiri offers an abundance of trekking opportunities. Boasting jungle and mountains, the region is also home to Cambodia’s hill tribes and its largest elephant population.

I went there with 2 friends from my volunteering new house in Phnom Penh. It's actually our local manager who helped us organising our 3 days trip. We had the chance to be directly in contact with the locals, sleeping at their house in a hammock, trekking the next day into the jungle for 17 km, got invited to a wedding and spent the last day walking and bathing with elephants.
