Tayrona Park is an amazing national park on the Carribean Coast of Colombia that lies only one hour drive from Santa Marta.

 

We spent 2 days and one night over there, at Cabo San Juan, which is by far the most recognisable and iconic of  Tayrona’s beaches. The accommodation is cheap (hammock hut on a small hill overlooking the sea or tent), the scenery impressive with two white sand beaches that seem to mirror each other with clear blue water in where you can even swim - something that isn’t common in Tayrona due to the big currents. The hike through the jungle is nice and not that difficult if you start from the main entrance.
