Penang island- Georgetown

Situated in Penang - a vibrant island well worth visiting in Malaysia - Georgetown has been inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2008. In fact, art work and graffiti can be  found on each street of the historical centre; adding a lot of charm to this city. If you need to remember one name, it would be Ernest Zacharevic. He is one of the most influential street art artist in Penang and Malaysia.

One trendy place to not miss in Georgetown is Hin Bus Depot. Described as a culture hub, this original once-derelict bus station offers exhibitions, urban farming and a Sunday pop-up market. Locals are proud of it, visitors are impressed by it, and artists wish to be part of it.

On the sea side, part of the Penang Heritage Trail, I've visited the clan jetties, six water villages housing seven old Chinese clans. The ‘floating’ houses are made of wood and aluminium, and sit on stilts above the sea. The most tourist-friendly of these villages is the Chew Jetty, featuring a nice walkway, beautiful view during sunset, souvenir shops and a small temple.
