Smallest capital of south east Asia, Vientiane is situated on the banks of the Mekong River. Facing Thailand, it boasts charming riverside, tasty restaurants, temples and cultural attractions. More quieter than any other asian capitals, Vientiane is a good option for getting back to a city life.

If you rent a scooter, you can head to the Buddha Park, an open-air sculpture park with giant sculptures of Buddha and Hindu deities, located 25 km southeast of Vientiane.

On the way back, we stopped at Pha That Luang, the golden stupa of Vientiane and most sacred Buddhist monument in Laos. We finished our day admiring the sunset  at Patuxay Victory Monument or the lao Arc de Triomphe. I still remember the radiation of colors that the sky displayed.
